DUTCH Testing
What is DUTCH?
The DUTCH Test (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) is a comprehensive hormone test that provides detailed insights into sex and adrenal hormones and their metabolites (how well your body can break down and excrete them). Patients collect urine samples at home over a 24 hour period making is non-evasive and convenient.
It is a comprehensive analysis measuring 35 different hormones, including estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-S, and cortisol, along with their metabolites.
Provides insights into adrenal function and stress levels by measuring diurnal cortisol patterns.
It also includes additional markers for oxidative stress, gut health, melatonin, and more.

DUTCH Test Vs Blood Labs
More people are gaining an interest in functional medicine because we are living in a more health conscious society. As a result, functional medicine is increasing in popularity.
We live in an era where information is more readily accessible than ever. People are taking more ownership and responsibility for their health.
Functional medicine has increasingly become mainstream as an evidence-based and scientific substitute for the approach to disease and symptoms.
The DUTCH Test is especially useful for addressing symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, hair loss, mood swings, and more. It's a valuable tool for optimizing hormone health and developing personalized treatment plans
Cortisol follows a daily rhythm. Conventional blood tests typically capture a snapshot of hormone levels at a single point in time, which can miss important fluctuations throughout the day. The DUTCH test allows for a full picture by measuring over a 24-hour time period.
All hormones must be properly broken down and excreted from the body, no different than food broken down and excreted. Unlike conventional blood labs, the DUTCH measures hormone metabolites and how efficiently your body is excreting them. This is a crucial part of uncovering the root cause of hormone imbalances which can not be measured in the blood because they do not exist in the blood.
Conventional versus Functional Medicine
Conventional medicine mainly focuses on the symptoms you're experiencing and uses the same symptoms to identify an illness and develop a treatment plan. This plan often includes finding the appropriate medication that will decrease the symptoms.
Functional medicine focuses on establishing the root cause of the symptoms. In this case, the symptoms function as clues for establishing the underlying issues that are generating the symptoms.
Dr. Lacy Stice examines the underlying sources, not merely the symptoms. With the use of diagnostic testing, scientific principles, and various forms of treatments, she seeks to restore balance in our patients' physiological processes, resulting in optimal health.
